Summer Beginner Band Lessons

When are the lessons?

Lessons are held on Monday and Thursday mornings at 11 a.m. on August 10, 13, 17, 20, 24, and 27.  We understand that families are often out-of-town for vacations and camps; however, for best results, students should attend as many beginner lessons as possible.

How do we get started?

1.)  Contact Mrs. Remus to set up an appointment to try instruments.  Even if your child is very sure they want to play a certain instrument, it is safest to try it first.
2.)  After choosing an instrument, sign up for summer beginner lessons.
3.) Check out Breber Music or other music store for affordable instrument rental options/lesson book purchase.

What do classes cost?

Beginner music lessons cost $50 for the entire session, regardless of how many you attend/miss.

What age should a child be to play a band instrument?

Children generally begin band instruments around ages 10-13, although other ages can be accommodated depending on student interest, ability, and size.  Younger children may be more limited in instrument choice because they are physically unable to hold certain instruments.

What should we expect during the lessons?

Your child should expect to be learning in a group setting.  This means they will have the fun of meeting other students, but that they will also need to remember not to distract others from learning.  They will learn how to produce a sound, hold their instrument properly, and read notes and rhythms.  It is expected that most students will be playing short, familiar tunes within two or three weeks.
